Chicken 1 kg cut into medium pieces
Potatoes 3 to 4 medium sized peeled and cut into halves
Onion 2 large sliced
Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
Red chili powder 1 teaspoon adjust to taste
Cumin powder 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
Garam masala 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Cooking oil 4 tablespoons
Water as needed
Green chilies optional
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Step by Step Cooking Method
Step 1
Heat oil in a pan or pot. Add sliced onions and fry until golden brown.
Step 2
Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for one minute until the raw smell disappears.
Step 3
Add turmeric powder red chili powder cumin powder coriander powder and salt. Stir well and cook the spices for a short time.
Step 4
Add chicken pieces and mix thoroughly with the spices. Cook on medium heat until the chicken changes color and releases oil.
Step 5
Add potatoes and mix gently so they are coated with the masala.
Step 6
Add water as required cover the pan and cook on low to medium heat until the chicken and potatoes are fully cooked and tender.
Step 7
Add garam masala and green chilies. Cook for another two minutes.
Step 8
Turn off the heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
